4 Powerful Prayers for When You Feel Weak

Any worn-out, weary women out there?

Oh, girl, we all feel it from time to time. I’ve been in the fast lane for the last several months and I’m feeling it! Between all the emotion of losing my dad paired with all the ministry travel, I feel like I’m running on fumes.

Life can just deplete us, can’t it? And I know you know exactly what I’m talking about.

When we feel weak, we need strength. It’s just that simple—and that difficult. That’s when we most need to pray.

I don’t know about you, but when I’m running on empty—discouraged and weary—I have trouble coming up with the words or the motivation to pray. It’s okay, though, if you and I don’t know what to say. We always have God’s Word, and we can pray His Word.

When it’s hard to find the right words to pray, we can pray God’s Word. [Click to Tweet]

So, I’ve found four powerful Scriptures that we can pray when we’re weak. These are the verses I’ve been praying, and have found that my spirit lifts and my strength rises when I do.

Yet these four scriptures don’t say that God gives us strength, they say He is our strength. I love that!

He is our strength!

Sister, we don’t need to look for strength, we need to look to God. And, we can do that by praying these four scriptures.

1. Lord, I Trust You to Be My Strength

“The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart exults,
And with my song I shall thank Him.”
(Psalm 28:7)

God is your strength. You can trust His power and ability. [Click to Tweet]

Because He is your strength, you can let go and trust Him. Trust His power. Trust His ability. You may have no confidence in your own ability and power—I sure don’t—but, you don’t have to.

You can proclaim and pray the truth that He is strong and He is your strength. He promises to help you. You can trust that truth and you can entrust your weakness to Him. He will be strong in and for you.

2. Lord, Help Me Take Steps Forward and Upward Because You Are My Strength

“The Lord God is my strength,
And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet,
And makes me walk on my high places.”
(Habakkuk 3:19)

When you feel weak, God empowers you to lift your chin and walk on. [Click to Tweet]

When life feels like one big climb and you feel too weak to take the next step, God is your strength. Because He is strong in your weakness, He will empower you to lift your chin and your gaze, and walk on.

Even when it feels like what is before you is a steep incline, God will infuse you with power beyond yourself. He will become your strength and guide each step. So, take the next step and walk by faith, He’s got you.

3. Lord, I Have Enough and Am Enough Because You Are My Strength

“My flesh and my heart may fail,
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
(Psalm 73:26)

Sometimes our fortitude gets feeble. Our strength fails—we get weary!

When you don’t feel like you’ve got enough strength, you don’t have to—He is your portion of strength. And, He doesn’t just give you a portion of strength, He is that portion.

When you feel overwhelmed, you can pray, “Lord, overwhelm me with Your peace.” It is a simple, yet powerful prayer. So download this beautiful free Overwhelmed Prayer Printable to encourage your heart with God’s peace when you need it most.

He will be enough for this day, tomorrow, and all the tomorrows to come. He is bigger than the problem you face and He is more powerful than that thing that seems to zap your strength. It’s okay if you’re not enough, He is.

4. Lord, I Love You and Thank You for Being My Strength

“‘I love You, O Lord, my strength.’
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
(Psalm 18:1-2)

Our strength often feels like gravel, doesn’t it? But God is our Rock! We can focus on Who He is and how big He is rather than who we are and how teeny weeny we feel.

God is our Rock. We can focus on Who He is. [Click to Tweet]

Shifting our gaze and fixing our affection on God helps us see His strength more clearly. When we just plain love Him, we find our minds focused on Him, not on us. Our strength rises when our love for Him grows.

Sister, I feel better and stronger already, just from typing out those verses!

So, print this, email it to yourself, bookmark it … whatever you need to do so you have these four Scriptures to pray when you’re too tired or weak to remember it on your own.

Aren’t you so thankful that we have everything—absolutely everything—we need in and through Him? Me too!

Now, take on the day!
