Life offers us lots of questions and very few answers. It sets before us many paths, but very few reliable directions about which path is the best for us.

We are bombarded with decisions — should I take this job? Should I quit this job?! We have endless choices — is this the college for me? Is this the guy for me? Is this the church where God wants me to be?

And, sometimes, we just flat-out have no idea what to do, what to choose, how to make the best decision.

But, if we trust God with our lives, that means we can trust Him with the choices and decisions that are looming over us. We can trust that if He has a “best case scenario” for us, He will lead us toward that choice. Part of the way God does that for us is through His Word.
If we can trust God with our lives, we can trust Him with our decisions. [Click to Tweet]
So, I want to give you 3 scriptures to pray when you just don’t know what to do. See how praying God’s Word can provide the Light you need to illuminate the path you should take.

1. Teach Me Your Way

“Teach me your way, O Lord; I will walk in your truth…” (Psalm 86:11a NASB).
God’s Word provides the Light we need to illuminate the path we should take. [Click to Tweet]
Sometimes we just need to be a student! When we ask God to teach us His way, it will expose how much or often we are following our own ways. It’s not necessarily that our ways are wrong; it just may be that our ways aren’t the best ways.

God, our Master Teacher, will show us His way and help us to walk in His truth. When we become a learner and choose to walk in His truth, it positions us to hear and follow and walk toward the plan God has for us.

2. Show me Your Purpose

“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” (Proverbs 19:21 ESV)
When we ask God to show us His purpose for our lives, it will make what was confusing more clear. [Click to Tweet]
Ultimately, we want what God has purposed for us far more than what we have planned for ourselves, right? That’s why when faced with a decision, we seek first God’s purpose for us, and then the plan will follow the purpose. As we ask God to show us His purpose for our lives, it will make what was once confusing more clear. Our plans change, but God’s purpose does not.

3. Establish my steps

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9 ESV)
As God establishes our steps, He is ordering actions and events to pull off the best outcome for us. [Click to Tweet]
Sometimes we just have to make our plans using our best judgment. And, we can fully intend to follow through so we’ll get what or where we think is best. But, when we ask God to “establish” our steps, we’re asking Him to determine how that plan unfolds. Ultimately, it is God who controls the implementation of our plans. God is the One who determines the ultimate outcome. As He establishes our steps, He is ordering actions and events in such a way to pull off the best outcome for us.

My friend, praying God’s Word is always a good choice that will lead you to greater faith and keep you walking on the path of life!

“The path of life leads upward for the wise…” (Proverbs 15:24a ESV)
