You aren’t alone. We’ve all felt like a mess. I know that I have.

Just recently, I filmed a Bible Study Bistro session with white eyelashes! After we went live, my husband Phil whispered to me from behind the camera, “Your lashes look white.” I thought, Oh no! I got powder on them.

Oh, girl, that’s not what happened. Beauty is a risk!

Many of you know that I do my own makeup, but because I’m blind I have to separate my cosmetics really carefully. Well, the older I’ve gotten, the thinner my eyelashes have become. So I’ve started using a white mascara primer. This particular morning, I decided to only use mascara and not primer too. Turns out I made a mistake and only wore the primer. I sure felt like a mess after that!

On this episode of the 4:13 Podcast, we’re going to get honest about our feelings of not being enough and show them who’s boss! Comedian and author Kerri Pomarolli is with us and she’ll lift your spirit and change your perspective.

If you’ve ever felt like your story belongs in Proverbs 32 instead of Proverbs 31, you aren’t alone. We’ve all felt like a mess. <a href="http://twitter.com/share?url= https://413podcast.com/97 &text=If you've ever felt like your story belongs in Proverbs 32 instead of Proverbs 31, you aren't alone.
Kerri is a national headlining stand-up comedian who’s worked with everyone from Jay Leno, Jim Carey, Sherri Shepherd to Jerry Lewis. She’s been featured on The Tonight Show twenty-nine times, Comedy Central, General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, and many more. She’s also an author and a single mom.

So, if you’ve ever felt like a mess and like your story belongs in Proverbs 32 instead of Proverbs 31 with the virtuous woman, this lively and life-giving conversation is for you. Get ready to laugh and learn!

3 Practical Tools for the Proverbs 32 Woman

Admit you’re a hot mess. If you judged Kerri by her Instagram account, she says she might look amazing. She’s filtered, shiny, and even Photoshopped a little. But it’s only a snapshot of her life. Kerri shares that it might look like she has it altogether, but she doesn’t. Some mornings she’s skipped church and watched Veggie Tales at home with her kids because she couldn’t pull it altogether. And, if you ever see a picture of her on the red carpet, she confesses that it takes at least seven people to get her carpet-ready. But, Kerri’s okay with admitting she’s a hot mess. She’s discovered that it’s freeing to take off her mask.

Sister, you can find the same freedom. Right now, you may be living perfection driven. But God—because He’s saved you, not based on anything you’ve done or will do—wants you to live provision driven. He doesn’t love you less on your bad days and more on your good days. Kerri explains, “He loves you just the way you are. He loves you in your yoga pants with a hole in them. He loves you even when you don’t do yoga and you wear yoga pants. He’s all about you.”

Learn to delegate. Once a month, Kerri has someone come and clean her house. As a single working mom, sometimes she feels like maybe it’s a luxury she shouldn’t afford. But, at the same time, she says that she’d skip dinner if it meant keeping the service.

You too can delegate. You don’t need to do everything yourself, and there’s no need to feel guilty about asking for help. As Kerri explains, you’re the captain of your ship—whether you’re married or single, whether you have kids or you don’t. And, to captain well, you need to make choices that help you take care of yourself and those around you. So, if you’re not already delegating, look for ways you can do that this week.

Live in community. Our culture talks a lot about finding your tribe and having squad goals. While Kerri has close friends, her tribe doesn’t look like the tribes she sees on Instagram. They don’t meet every Tuesday for coffee and take #squadgoal selfies. But, she says, they do get together and talk through their problems. She says it’s like free therapy.

If you only have one or two close friends, that’s enough. But to live in community with them, you need to be intentional to call them. Go out for coffee together or, like Kerri does with one friend, become walking buddies. As you spend time together, share your struggles. Surround yourselves with friends who will challenge you with truth and who will pray through situations with you.

Friend, you can trust God with all your stuff and just rest in who He made you to be. So, remember, whatever you are facing, however you may feel, you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength.
