The Church in the Middle of a Cornfield – FGF Highlights, Georgetown, DE

The church in the middle of the cornfield. That’s how Kaye Bennett, Fresh Grounded Faith Georgetown’s Local Conference Coordinator, described her church when we first scheduled FGF. But, now that I’m home from such an amazing weekend, I call it “the church in the middle of God’s will.”

The conference sold out, and that was during the coronavirus! We gathered socially distanced but totally connected in spirit. We worshipped together both on-site and online as Michael O’Brien lead us. Oh, girl, when he busted out his 70’s medley, even the young women in that place sang out with vintage Andraé Crouch tunes!

Lisa Whelchel shared how she’s learning to rest in God’s grace and what it was like to be on the TV show, Survivor. I taught out of Isaiah 6, and we all found encouragement in God’s Word through the story of Isaiah being shaken in the temple.

But, before the conference even started, Kay met with her team of co-host churches and volunteers to prepare for the conference. At every gathering, she had a minimum of 70 women in attendance—they were masked and six feet apart, but this group of women was all in!

The beautiful thing was, they weren’t just all in for their Georgetown event. They were all in for what God was doing all around the country! Kaye took up a collection of gift cards from her women and co-host churches to send to the FGF host church in Lake Charles since they suffered so much with Hurricane Laura.

That’s the kind of women they are—right in the center of God’s will. They care about what He cares about and are all in to follow Him and represent His love.

Jesus shined bright at the church in the cornfield! His love was so obvious in the people at Crossroad Community Church and the surrounding area. They volunteered for anything you needed help with. Once they got that task done, they asked, “What’s next?” It was that way with men and women alike. They really live and love in the center of God’s will.

Plus, we celebrated 36 women who made decisions for Christ and 46 children sponsored through Compassion International. Thank you, Jesus!

So, I figure, no matter where we find ourselves … whether in the middle of a cornfield, in the middle of a crisis, or in the middle of an ordinary day … we can live like the ladies at FGF Delaware, right in the center of God’s will.

Blessings,

Jennifer and the FGF Team!
