About

Hi! I’m Jennifer Rothschild—with a sneaky silent “s.”  I’m an author, speaker, Bible study teacher, podcaster, wife, and mom.  Whew!  No wonder I go to bed at 9:00 p.m.!  Kidding.  I actually go to bed early to listen to audio books.  I’m a hopeless audio book junkie, and my very favorite author is C.S. Lewis!  But even though I love me some Lewis and all sorts of non-fiction dead authors, I love to go on fiction vacations too!  Just give me the latest mystery thriller in my AirPods, and I’m one obsessed happy woman!

The reason all my books are on audio is because I’m blind, and I’ve been blind since I was 15 years old.  It’s a long story that you can learn more about here, but I’ll sum it up by saying that God has made it well with my soul.  Deeply well.  Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t well with my circumstances all the time, but it is forever well with my soul.  The Bible and God’s grace have been my lifelines, and I’ve learned it really is true that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

So, here I am, way past 15 (wink) and now my goal is to give you the practical encouragement and Biblical wisdom you need to live the “I Can” life of Philippians 4:13 as well — “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I love my 4:13 Podcast because it’s just two friends, one topic, and zero stress.  I podcast with my friend, KC—who I call my “seeing eye guy”—and every week you’ll hear great conversations full of practical, biblical encouragement. Oh, and you’ll laugh a lot too!

Now to my main guy … I married my college sweetheart, Philip Rothschild, who is now a professor. So that means I have my very own Dr. Phil! Together we have two sons, one daughter-in-law, three grands, and one diva dog.

Growing up, I lived in Clearwater, Florida, Costa Rica, and Miami. I graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University in 1986 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Communication. My happy place is Oxford, England, but since I can’t go there as often as I would like, just give me Target and Starbucks at least once a week and I’m good!

When I’m not listening to a book, I’m trying to write one!  So far, I’ve written 19 books and Bible studies, and back in the day, I also recorded some music CDs.  My first book, Lessons I Learned in the Dark, has been a best-seller along with Me, Myself and Lies: What to Say When You Talk to Yourself.  The book that explores the hard questions of faith is God is Just Not Fair: Finding Hope When Life Doesn’t Make Sense, and my most “giftable” book is the beautifully designed, 66 Ways God Loves You: Experience God’s Love for You in Every Book of the Bible.

I’m the host and Bible teacher for Fresh Grounded Faith women’s conferences where my friends and I serve up a venti-sized portion of encouragement for a woman’s soul. They’re Kingdom-minded, region wide events that bring together many churches because I love the local church!

My Dr. Phil and I founded the womensministry.net Leadership Library in 1998 which is a free online resource where we equip women in ministry to lead well. So, if that’s you, check it out!

Okay, that’s enough about me!  Thanks for stopping by and hanging out!

May it always be well with your soul,

Jennifer

The Formal Biography

“It is well with my soul.”

For Jennifer Rothschild, these words are much more than the lyrics from a familiar hymn; they describe how she lives her life … in the dark.

At the age of fifteen, Jennifer was diagnosed with a rare, degenerative eye disease that would eventually steal her sight. It was more than a turning point for the Miami, Florida native. Her dreams of becoming an artist and cartoonist faded. Words and music have replaced her canvas and palette for more than 30 years.

As an author and speaker, Jennifer is known for her substance, signature wit, and down-to-earth style.  A unique mix of profound and playful, she weaves biblical truth with relatable stories, making God’s Word accessible to those just starting out in Scripture and endearing to those who have walked with Christ for years.

Jennifer has been a featured speaker for the nation’s largest conference for women, Women of Faith.  She’s also been on the platform with Women of Joy, Lifeway Women Live, and Extraordinary Women. Since 2018, She’s hosted the popular 4:13 Podcast where she provides weekly biblical wisdom and practical encouragement to help women live the “I Can” life of Philippians 4:13.

She is the author of 19 books and Bible studies with combined sales over one million units, including the latest video-based Bible study, Amos: An Invitation to the Good Life and the best-selling book, Lessons I Learned in the Dark.

Jennifer has been featured on The Today Show, Dr. Phil, ABC’s Good Morning America, and the Billy Graham Television Special, plus other national TV and radio programs including Hour of Power, Life Today, Family Life Radio, and others. Her life story and message has been the cover story of numerous national publications including Today’s Christian Woman, Virtue magazine, Becoming Family magazine, HomeLife magazine, and others.

Jennifer is also the founder and host of Fresh Grounded Faith events and the womensministry.net Leadership Library, which equips women in ministry to lead well. She lives in Springfield, Missouri with her husband of over 35 years, Dr. Philip Rothschild. Jennifer is a boy mom, C.S. Lewis junkie, an obsessive audio book listener, a dark chocolate lover, a strong coffee drinker, and an avid encourager.
