Family Reunion – FGF Highlights, Plant City, FL

We’ve got family everywhere when we’re in the family of God, right? And, that was so obvious at our first Fresh Grounded Faith event of the fall in Plant City, Florida. There were over 1,200 of us sisters all together worshipping, learning, and laughing.

Thank you to Matt Croxton for the beautiful photos. To see the entire Facebook photo album, click here. For those of you who joined the photo booth fun, you can view your photos here.

This was our second time to be with these amazing women of Central Florida—including our wonderful local conference coordinator, Kay Morris. We are so very grateful to Kay and to our host church, First Baptist Church Plant City, along with our 11 co-host churches and all our fantastic volunteers.

A big group from the Family of God Church—which my hero dad helped start—was there wearing their yellow tee-shirts, smiles, and providing enough energy to light up the place! I also got to see old friends from my days at Palm Beach Atlantic University and Northwood Baptist Church in West Palm Beach. (Don’t tell them I called them old!)

And, my mom, the original “She Can Woman” was there too, along with my sis-in-law.

“She Can” was the theme. We learned how to trust God with all the “I can’ts” in our lives—and Angie Smith helped us do just that by understanding who we are in Christ.

Plus, Karen Abercrombie stirred us up with her story of faith and her amazing monologue about Rahab. Girl, it was so inspiring! Michael O’Brien led us in worship and had our hands in the air and our feet stomping in praise.

On Friday night, we also celebrated the one-year anniversary of the 4:13 Podcast by picking our grand-prize winner. Sister, it was amazing that our winner, Diane, was from Plant City and a volunteer on the Photo Wall team! How about that?!

We also rejoiced at 8 new sisters in Christ, 43 women who chose to renew their commitment to the Lord, and 45 children sponsored through Compassion International. Thank you, Jesus! All honor and power and glory to our Savior!

Being with so many “framily” (friends who are family), I was reminded of the faithfulness of God over the decades and generations. It reminded me of Psalm 37:25, “I was young and now I am old yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken.”

Now, sister, “old” is relative! But, you get the point. God makes us family and God always takes care of His family. He will never forsake us, so let’s not forsake gathering with each other as His grateful children!

Every time we do is a family reunion, and that’s what FGF Plant City felt like. If you’ve never been to one of our FGF gatherings, come on, sister!

Blessings,

Jennifer and the FGF Team!
