The ground was covered with snow when we landed in Grand Rapids for Fresh Grounded Faith. Winter decided to show up early and crash our party!
But we barely noticed the cold temps because the hearts of the women were so warm. It was a sold-out conference with every seat full!
Our four Local Conference Coordinators—Mary Lutke and Bonnie Assink from one of our co-host churches, Ottawa Reformed, and Kathy Bobeldyk and Lyn Walker from our host church, Community Reformed Church—were the “Dream Team!” These ladies didn’t know each other before getting involved with Fresh Grounded Faith, and now they are best friends.
The worship center was a symphony of praise as the women sang their hearts out with Michael O’Brien leading worship. What a beautiful sound as sisters from all over West Michigan blended their voices.
I taught out of Isaiah 6 about the impact of God’s glory coming down in our lives. Everything shakes! And, what shakes us can shape us to be the women God designed us to be. And, girl, God’s glory did fill that place and, because it did, the women filled the altar praying. It was so inspiring!
Then Karen Abercrombie entertained us with her drama and inspired us with her testimony.
We also rejoiced at 6 new sisters in Christ, 30 women who chose to renew their commitment to the Lord, and 39 children sponsored through Compassion International. Thank you, Jesus!
Those women at FGF West Michigan did have warm hearts, that’s for sure. But, I think the reason they did is because they were on fire! Those warm-hearted women in that frozen place were on fire for the Lord, and we all felt it!
