You and I hear all the time how important it is for women to be strong. Well, friend, the Bible agrees! Proverbs even gives us a picture of a strong woman. It says, “she clothes herself with strength and dignity” (Proverbs 31:25).

Have you heard one or more of these Psalms?

A few years ago, I was cruising the Caribbean with my friends, Paula and Joan. We were on the cruise as part of a women’s ministry event being led by Kathy Troccoli.
We stopped at several ports, including St. Martin. When we docked there, we put on our Gutsy Girl t-shirts, grabbed our water bottles, and headed off the ship. The three of us were looking so … well, middle-aged.
I answered the phone one Friday in May, just six days before school was out, and heard my tenth grade son’s history teacher say,
“Mrs. Rothschild.” (It’s never a good sign when a phone call begins with Mrs.) “Your son, Clayton, has a 69 in my class. He’s so bright and I know he can do better… I thought you could encourage him.”
Oh, yes. I was ready to “encourage” him!
I was upset, panicked, and feeling guilty that I hadn’t been more alert. I was a mixed up mess of emotions.
