I Love You to the MoonPie and Back – FGF Highlights, Chattanooga, TN

I loved everything about being in Chattanooga! But, I must say, I forgot how much I loved MoonPies until I visited the MoonPie’s hometown this past weekend! Those yummy treats have been baked in Chattanooga at the Chattanooga Bakery since 1917.

Thank you to Liz Power for the beautiful photos. To see the entire Facebook photo album, click here.

And wow, were they good! Those sweet Chattanooga sisters gave me a gift basket with some of those marshmallowy treats, and then after dinner on Friday night, they even served us MoonPies for dessert! It was so fun!

It’s fitting that MoonPies are from Chattanooga because I just love all those women to the moon—or shall I say ‘to the MoonPie’—and back!

Our Local Conference Coordinators Elaine Propes, Pam Rector, and Amanda Nakamine did such a great job pulling off this twice pandemic-postponed event. They showed such grace and tenacity to make it happen, and our host church, Red Bank Baptist Church, opened their doors and hearts wide to serve all of the women who attended.

And can I just say the men of that church were all-in! They were helping wherever they could, which included escorting women underneath umbrellas on Saturday when it poured rain! Such servant hearts.

I’m so thankful for all who came together to serve, including our wonderful volunteers and co-host churches. What a beautiful picture of unity in the body of Christ!

Liz Curtis Higgs, Tammy Trent and Michael O’Brien were fantastic and made every woman laugh, think, grow and love Jesus more.

Our favorite part was when Tammy started her “shoe ministry.” Ha! If you joined us, you loved it when she tied my boot laces on stage Friday night, and then unstuck Liz’s shoe from the carpet after leaping on stage Saturday morning. That woman is crazy in all the best, most fun ways!

But rest assured that Tammy wasn’t the only one coming to the rescue. We got to witness God move in the hearts of these women and do wonderful things!

We celebrated a new sister in Christ and are rejoicing with the angels in heaven! We’re also rejoicing for the 8 women who chose to renew their commitment to the Lord and the 24 children with Compassion International who were rescued from poverty. Praise the Lord!

Our Fresh Grounded Faith team ended our spring tour in Chattanooga, and it was a sweet place to end our season. We were all so blessed to spend this little slice of time with our sisters in Tennessee!

Blessings,

Jennifer and the FGF Team!
