They Were Family From Hello – FGF Highlights, Kokomo, IN

Fresh Grounded Faith Kokomo was like instant family!

There was such a welcoming spirit in the church building when we arrived. I could feel it! You know, there’s a difference between being kind and being welcoming. There’s a difference between cordiality and hospitality. And, these ladies in Kokomo were welcoming and hospitable—like family from the word hello!

When I talked to my mom about the event, I told her that I felt a depth of ministry in that room all weekend. It wasn’t heavy—it was deep. There was a deep joy with no shallow frivolity. But don’t get me wrong. That doesn’t mean we didn’t laugh a ton. We did!

How could we not laugh with Tammy Trent? That woman is hilarious and deep and warm and wise, and we were all totally ministered to by her story, her music, and her joy.

And then, Laura Story taught from Mark 5 and told her story about her husband’s brain injury. She shared how it’s hard and good all at once.

Michael O’Brien led worship all weekend and sang lots of songs from his new CD, Crown Him. If you don’t have it, get it! It was beautiful and worshipful—and that man can sing!

And, speaking of men, another one joined us at this women’s conference! Kennedy Krezi is one of Kenya’s most renowned poets, lyricists, and Gospel hip-hop artists. He wowed us with his story of God’s faithfulness. It was all because God used Compassion International to release him from poverty in Jesus’ Name. So powerful!

If you don’t sponsor a child through any poverty relief ministries, I’m just saying, you need to! Ask God if He would lead you and provide for you to release a child from poverty. The need is great, and we can make a difference. You can learn more about Compassion International here.

Well, I taught out of Jeremiah 29 and 1 Corinthians 16:13. We got the fresh touch we needed from God’s beautiful Word to help us take courage when we feel like we can’t take one. More. Thing.

Thanks to our fantastic Local Conference Coordinators Abagail Smith and Cindy Lundin, and both our host church, First Church of the Nazarene, and our co-host churches. We’re so grateful for all of your hard work and your beautiful hearts!

We’re also celebrating all that God did in Kokomo! Sixteen women gave their hearts to Jesus! And, this weekend alone, 25 children were sponsored through Compassion International. Praise the Lord!

What a wonderful weekend with my sisters in Kokomo, Indiana! My heart is full and overflowing because of their welcoming and hospitable hearts and deep joy!

Blessings,

Jennifer and the FGF Team!
