Beautiful God, Beautiful Women – FGF Highlights, Evansville, IN

“Perfectionism kills skill.” Those were the wise words of Ann Voskamp during Spill the Beans at Fresh Grounded Faith, Evansville this past weekend. What truth that woman spoke! She shared earlier that morning about how we as women can use measuring sticks as weapons that hurt ourselves and hurt each other. But, of course, because she is such a wordsmith, she said it a lot better than I just did!

She Still Speaks

Oh, oh, oh have I got a treat for you?! Liz is in the house…or on the blog!

Liz Curtis Higgs is one of the funniest and wisest women I know and I am so happy to share her words with you today.

She gets us girls. She knows what it’s like to want to live well and wise and her insights have helped me do just that so I know she will help you too.

After you enjoy this blog, you’ll want to get even more Liz in her new book “It’s Good to Be Queen: Becoming as Bold, Gracious, and Wise as the Queen of Sheba.” In fact, let me just give you one, okay? In the comments following the blog, tell me why you want to win the book and my peeps will randomly choose the book winner!

What You Never Knew About Female Employees

What would you say if I told you the following statements were facts?

  • Young, married women are more responsible than single gals.
  • Older women tend to be fussy if they have never worked outside the home.
  • Husky girls are more even-tempered than skinny ones.
  • And, a girl has more confidence, and is more efficient, if she can keep her hair tidied and apply fresh lipstick during her work day.

Would you say I’ve lost my mind? Would you say I’ve lost my manners?! Would you think I’m out of touch, or politically incorrect ?

What Math Says About You

Four kinds of people

According to Pastor Rick Warren, there are four types of people in your life; those who add, multiply, subtract or divide. I bet as you read that, you saw those people begin to pop into your mind wearing the proper mathematical symbols on their t-shirts! When you break people into those kinds of categories, it’s pretty easy to identify who is who, isn’t it?

Math

What kind of person are you though? It’s somewhat easy to identify which categories the people in our lives fall into, but we often neglect to determine what category we most often fall into ourselves.

The Invitation Every Woman Wants

Please come to my house and hang out with me. I won’t clean it up for you. When you walk across my kitchen floor, your shoes may stick to the tiles every now and then. You will have to move shoes from in front of the couch when you sit down. There may be a hoodie or pair of socks in some random place that only you will locate because the rest of us who live here have not been able to find them for years.

Please come to my house and have lunch with me. I won’t make you the lovely chicken salad with walnuts and cranberries that would impress you. I won’t bake homemade bread for us to enjoy. Rather, we will probably munch on Saltines, String Cheese and sliced apples. You can sit at my kitchen table with me and scrape off the remains of breakfast before you place your paper plate on the streaked glass surface. If you spill some tea on your seat as we eat, don’t worry. The cushions are already stained. I won’t steam clean them before you arrive.
