Several years ago, I began most days coaching myself to get up and be the grown-up I was supposed to be. You see, I didn’t want to face the day because it would probably be like all the yesterdays that had come before … dark, hard, and long.

Have you ever heard anyone say they’re in “thrive mode” when life hits hard? Probably not. Most of us operate in “survival mode” when we experience suffering. I’ve been there, and I bet you have too.

Oh, friend, crises happen to all of us, don’t they?

Don’t you just get tired of dealing with the hard stuff? I sure do!
Things like strained relationships, difficult bosses, constant conflict, illness, and financial stress can cause our hands to droop and our knees to wobble. Sometimes we can look over our shoulders and just want to turn back.

We all have low places in life.
Hospital waiting rooms, funerals, half-empty bank accounts, hard marriages, and chronic illness are just a few. Low places take us to the bottom of ourselves and leave us feeling down.
Friend, you may be walking through a low place right now.
