Spill the Beans LIVE with Laura Story at Fresh Grounded Faith Houston, TX [Episode 252]

Spill Beans Houston Texas Laura Story Michael O'Brien

It’s that time again! We’re spilling the beans in Houston, Texas with Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Laura Story and former lead singer of Newsong, Michael O’Brien. This Q&A time at any Fresh Grounded Faith event is unscripted, unrehearsed, and unlike anything you’ll experience at other women’s conferences!

Today, we’re talking about if it’s okay to not be joyful during trials, what it means to fear the Lord but not be fearful of Him, and how to forgive someone but not allow them to hurt you in the future.

How to Make the Best of It So You Don’t Experience the Worst of It

Sometimes when hard things come into our lives, they take the best from us. Long lasting trials can drain us and wear us out. Our initial energy and faith gets slowly depleted until we find ourselves flat, hopeless and defeated. All that I can! attitude gets replaced with I can’t and I don’t want to apathy.

When a parent is ill for a long time, it can take the best from us. When a teenager is in full blown rebellion, it can take the best from us. When we lose a job, or our spouse does; when we deal with a chronic illness or are stuck in what feels like a dead end job or relationship – all of that can take the best from us.

How to Escape a Revolving Door

I was laughing with my friend Joan yesterday as we prepared to travel together. We are going on Kathy Trocolli’s Among Friends cruise in just a few days! (I know, I know, poor me. If you can’t come, I am speaking on another cruise in October – check it out maybe you can join me on that one!)

Anyway as we were going over details, Joan said “I promise not to get you stuck in a revolving door on this trip!”

Yes, Joan and I were going through or at least attempting to go through, a revolving door once in a mall in Tulsa when Joan panicked. “How do we get through this? How do we get out of this?!” She didn’t think to ask those questions until our second rotation. Once she and I were in, she wasn’t quite sure how to get me (being blind) and her (being blonde), out of the door at the same time!

We obviously made it out and so I thought I would share with you how that miracle occurred.
