Above and Beyond – FGF Highlights, Shelbyville, KY

The weekend started with high drama before any of us stepped on the stage at Shelby Christian Church. As final preparations were being made for the Fresh Grounded Faith conference, our Local Conference Coordinator, Evann Roberts, got an 8 mm kidney stone and had to have surgery!

So on Thursday, which was set up day for the conference, Evann went in for the procedure. She was released from the hospital around 11:00 a.m., but that woman is amazing! She and her mom, Kim—the pastor’s wife—picked up lunch for all of the volunteers and stayed at the church the rest of the day until our FGF National Conference Director, Terrie Bitter, left that evening.

The Place Where Southern Hospitality Shines – FGF Highlights, Enterprise, AL

Did you know there’s a boll weevil monument in downtown Enterprise, Alabama? Friend, it’s true! And, this weekend at Fresh Grounded Faith, the sweet ladies of Enterprise told us all about it.

This 1919 landmark was erected to show appreciation to the boll weevil. But you might be surprised to hear why! You see, this beetle—who likes to feast on cotton buds and flowers—had actually destroyed the people of Enterprise’s crops. But, this community didn’t give up!

Grace Poured Out – FGF Highlights, Indianapolis, IN

The grace of our Lord was poured out on us in Indianapolis this past weekend. He came to Indy to seek and to save that which was lost, drawing women to Himself, releasing children from poverty, and sharing His great love with women who may have never felt it. And we at Fresh Grounded Faith got to watch Him work!

Over a thousand women were worshipping, laughing, and learning together, and I loved every minute of it.

Can I Learn to Wait on God? [Episode 20 with Meredith Andrews]

When Phil and I had been married about a year, he was the Director of Student Life at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Part of his job was to oversee the student body’s formal banquets.

So, twice a year I had to squeeze some money from our tight budget to buy a formal dress—and, for the most recent event, I’d found a beautiful black dress at a bargain price.
